Trilogy (of Poems)

Taking cue from Deepa Mehta's Trilogy of films - Earth, Fire & Water, few years back, I too constructed a Trilogy of poems. Here it is for you to read, enjoy and criticize.

(Please feel free to comment on other recent entries on the blog : "Republic Day Memoirs" and "Slumdog Bizzare?").

Water

few could look
into those reservoirs
for men usually shy away
when they stare

you could be bold
and continue to gaze
but you’ll drown too -
a similar fate!

gazing at them
many lost balance
tormented ever after,
turning insomniacs

the irony however is
unaware of their strength
those eyes blink innocently,
like a child awe-struck!

Earth

burning sand
hot and bizarre
such is life
an eternal fire

some soothing balm
everyone finds
one thing or the other
to which life binds

your black tresses
weave magic as they swirl
I long for their shade
oh! my girl

the magical curtain
as it falls
I experience bliss
amidst its walls

its swings and swirls
and scent and shade
is my place to rest
and reason to wake!

Fire

gateway to her gut
are two crimson gates
spreading fire
and igniting the place

just their thought
acts as a spark
igniting passion,
arousing desire

as my being
gets engulfed in desire
I long to lick
the voluptuous fire!

heat generates
as I probe her lips
slimy saliva,
firing the flames!

write up republic day was excellent actually it took me down the memory lane when that boondi was the best lure for me to get up & go to school , then came the stage when going on the stage & impressing everyone specially BOYS was incentive enough to go to school on 26 jan ,same speech with few changes in words ,dialogue & the sher was used for 3 yrs with out any body detecting . those days were really innocent days
by the time u realize the importance of this day u also know the state of govt and that charm vanishes . now its more of a duty as your job demands it
but still the fact remains "Iam proud to be an Indian"

Yes, no doubt about that. I guess most of us are proud to be Indians. I would not change India for any country in the world. How much ever I travel, where ever I go, always delighted to be back. I guess I'm addicted to the colours, the sounds, the vibrance and the diversity of India.

Thanks for your snap on the blog. Someone is looking gorgeous ;)

As the D'day is around the corner when every guy dreams of a gal & every gal of getting a rose i would like to enlighten you with the truth behind this concept.

Men: Please take it with a large pinch of salt.

Women: Please do not take the message too literally and start wielding your Velans

Finally I am revealing the origin of the tradition :

In spite of what you have been told by everyone, the truth is that Valentine's Day originated hundreds of years ago, in India, and to top it all, in Gujarat!!

It is a well known fact that Gujarati men, specially the Patels, continually mistreat and disrespect their wives (Patelianis). One fine day, it happened to be the 14th day of February, one brave Pateliani, having had enough "torture" by her husband, finally chose to rebel by beating him up with a Velan (rolling pin i.e belan of North).

Yes....the same Velan which she used daily, to make chapattis for him....only this time, instead of the dough, it was the husband who was flattened. This was a momentous occasion for all Gujarati women and a revolt soon spread, like wild fire, with thousands of housewives beating up their husbands with the Velan.
There was an outburst of moaning "chapatti-ed" husbands all over Anand and Ahmedabad. The Patel men-folk quickly learnt their lesson and started to behave more respectfully with their Patelianis.
Thereafter, on 14th February, every year, the womenfolk of Gujarat would beat up their husbands, to commemorate that eventful day. The wives having the satisfaction of beating up their husbands with the Velan and the men having the supreme joy of submitting to the will of the women they loved.
Soon The Gujju men realised that in order to avoid this ordeal they need to present gifts to their wives....they brought flowers and sweetmeats.
Hence the tradition began.
As Gujarat fell under the influence of Western culture, that day was called 'Velan time' day.
The ritual soon spread to Britain and many other Western countries, specifically, the catch words 'Velan time!'. Of course in their foreign tongues, it was first anglicized to 'Velantime' and then to 'Valentine'.
And thereafter, 14th of February, came to be known as Valentine's Day!

HAPPY VELENTINE'S DAY TO ALL OF YOU

Do your poems reflect the truth in your life or are you writing things to get kudos from people you know and you don't.Is truth a path you follow or are you gassing? Some poems pathetic and vulgar. What one does actually in true life is actually never reflected in what they write. They may have been liars in their married lives .Someone has written here of a dday if it means marriage i hope your upcoming union is laid on the foundation of honesty and truth and is not as hollow as your poems.
